04 The champion
He started at seven. He has not really stopped.
Jeremy Johnston picked up his first balloon at age seven in Mesa, Arizona,
and has spent his life on the craft. At his first competition in 2005 he took
first place in two judged categories. Thirteen championship titles later,
he is one of a very small number of artists working at this level anywhere.
In 2012 he moved the company to Las Vegas — the entertainment capital of the world —
and now works casinos, corporate floors and private events across the valley.
Along the way: a nine-foot King Kong built from more than 3,000 balloons,
and a life-size Wicked Witch scene made entirely from uninflated balloons.
In 2024 he was one of the artists behind Balloon Story at New York's
Park Avenue Armory — 55,000 square feet and 600,000+ balloons —
where ABC7 New York interviewed him about engineering the jungle animals.
